Schedule recording, find the moment in seconds
Recording and archive
ProVife schedules and stores recordings on your own server, plays server and NVR recordings in the same player, lists events with images and lets you search recordings with words.

Recordings answer the first questions asked after an incident: what happened, when, and who was there. ProVife Recording and archive manages recording schedules, retention and disk reserve on the server side with weekly time templates. Server recordings are played back by selecting a camera and date, and recordings on camera or NVR storage are searched via ONVIF. The AI Playback screen presents AI events, notifications and the administration log together with the related recording; clicking an event opens the recording at that moment. Just type “Maria Smith”, “7ABC123” or “yellow hard hat yesterday” in the search box. Daily Time Lapse summaries and video archive backup cover long-term review and retention needs.
Seconds, not minutes
Go from event to recording in one click; keyword search replaces hours of watching video.
Legacy systems in the archive too
Recordings on NVR and camera storage are searched and played back from within ProVife via ONVIF.
Planned storage
Time templates, retention periods and disk reserve keep storage predictable.
Evidence ready
Event images with marked targets, PDF reports and MKV exports speed up review and sharing.
Recording schedules and time templates
Recording is managed with weekly time templates. Business hours, weekends and special dates such as holidays are defined once, and a template is then applied to many cameras in bulk. Recording files are split by segment length and written to the server drive; retention period and free space threshold determine how old recordings are cleaned up before the drive fills. Even at a site with hundreds of cameras, the recording setup is changed and audited consistently from one place.
- Weekly time templates and special dates
- Bulk application of a template to many cameras
- Server-wide retention period
- Disk reserve and free space threshold
- Adjustable recording segment length
Playing server and NVR recordings
On the Playback screen, you select a camera and date; the monthly calendar shows days with recordings, and the timeline marks recorded intervals. Playback speed can be selected, and a motion search in a selected area jumps directly to intervals with motion within the recorded hours. Remote playback searches and plays recordings on camera or NVR storage via ONVIF Profile G, bringing legacy systems with on-site recordings into the archive.
- Playback by camera and date, monthly calendar
- Playback speed selection
- Motion search in recordings within a selected area
- Search on NVR and camera storage via ONVIF Profile G
- Evidence export in MKV format
AI Playback
AI events, operator notifications and administrative actions come together on a single event screen. Each event comes with its image, with the rule area and target box marked; clicking an event opens the related recording from that second. Events can be filtered by camera, date, plate and event type. A PDF event report with images can be generated from selected events; it is built from the actual event frames on the server, not from a live snapshot.
- Events, notifications and audit log on one screen
- Event images with marked targets
- One click from event to recording
- Plate, camera and event type filters
- PDF event report with images
Keyword search
The search bar at the top of the event screen understands everyday language. Person names, plates, analytic names, colors, scenario or camera names can be combined with time expressions such as “yesterday”, “this week” or “last 7 days”. ProVife shows how it understood your query with tags, tolerates Turkish word endings and minor typos, and ranks results by score. Searches cover only cameras for which the user has event permission.
- Scenes where the person appears, with “Maria Smith”
- Every pass of the vehicle, with “7ABC123”
- Analytic and color searches such as “red car”, “fight” or “no mask”
- Search range of 7, 30 or 90 days, or 1 year
- Every search is written to the Audit Log
Time Lapse
Time Lapse captures one frame per hour from each camera to build a daily 24-frame summary archive. A construction site’s weekly progress, a warehouse’s changing occupancy or a parking lot’s use throughout the day can be reviewed in seconds instead of minutes. Frames are stored permanently; missing hours are never artificially filled in later, and existing frames are never overwritten.
- One frame per hour, a 24-frame daily summary
- Compare days and weeks with fast playback
- An unaltered archive with no synthetic frames
- Ideal for monitoring construction sites, warehouses and parking lots
Archive backup and data protection
Video archive backup copies the recording files of selected cameras to a target folder; bandwidth can be limited during copying, and results are shown per camera. Source recordings are not deleted. Software updates do not touch camera, user or recording data. Camera information, plate lists, parking entries and AI data are stored encrypted on the server. Copied recordings are standard MKV files; they can be kept long term on an external drive or network folder and opened without ProVife.
- Video archive copy by camera selection
- Bandwidth limit during copying
- Copying that never deletes the source
- Updates that preserve settings and recordings
- Encrypted storage of camera and AI data

Frequently asked questions
Where are recordings stored?
Recordings are stored on the drive of the ProVife server at your own site. Retention period and free space threshold are set on the administration screen; recordings are never sent to any external service.
Can I view recordings on my existing NVR from ProVife?
Yes. Remote playback searches and plays recordings on NVR or camera storage via ONVIF Profile G. This lets you reach recordings made before switching to ProVife from the same interface.
What does keyword search find?
It searches recorded AI events by person name, plate, analytic name, color, scenario and camera name. For example, typing “yellow hard hat” lists the related events generated by the hard hat rule, with images.
Does archive backup move recordings or copy them?
Archive backup copies them. The recording files of the selected cameras are copied to the target folder, and the source recordings stay on the server for the retention period. Bandwidth can be limited during copying to avoid overloading the network.
