Age estimation
Produces an approximate age range for faces seen by the camera; shows the visitor profile in numbers.

Age estimation determines an approximate age range for every face seen in the analytics area. ProVife shows this information over the face in live video and records it as an event. In stores, museums, exhibitions and event venues, these events reveal which age groups make up the visitor profile and which group peaks at which hours. The person’s identity is not determined; only an age range is produced. It is also used for informational purposes at points of sale for age-restricted products and at play area entrances. Events can be searched and reported together with other face events.
How it works
Draw the area where faces will be seen.
Create an Age estimation scenario on the camera and set the analytics hours.
ProVife finds faces in the area and determines an approximate age range for each one.
The age range is shown over the face in live video.
Each estimate is recorded as an event in line with the repeat interval.
Settings
| Area | The zone where age is estimated. |

| Alert method | Usually recording only; main screen notification if desired. |

Where it is used
Retail
The age breakdown of store visitors is tracked by hour.
Museums
The age groups visiting exhibition halls provide data for planning.
Entertainment
The visitor profile at play area entrances is tracked throughout the day.
Gas stations
The cashier is informed during age-restricted sales at the supermarket checkout.
Camera placement
- Position the camera to see faces from the front, close to eye level.
- Favor a narrow-angle lens so facial detail can be made out.
- Favor spots where people briefly stop, such as in front of checkouts, entrances and information desks.
- Soften overhead lighting that casts harsh shadows on faces.
