Abandoned object
Detects bags, packages or boxes that appear permanently in the area compared with a reference image.

Abandoned object analytics stores a reference image of the area when empty and works by looking for a lasting change against that image. If a bag, package or box is left in the area and stays there for the dwell time, ProVife creates an event. Overall lighting changes are compensated, and changes are not evaluated until the image stabilizes, so people walking by and passing shadows do not produce events. It spots unattended objects and materials blocking the way early in airport terminals, stations, shopping mall corridors, public building entrances and in front of emergency exits.
How it works
While the area is empty, grab the image with Capture frame and draw the zone to monitor.
When you save the scenario, ProVife stores a reference image of this zone.
Enter the changed area ratio; if this share of the zone changes, it counts as a change.
Set the dwell time; if the change remains stable throughout this period, an event is created.
When the area is rearranged, update the reference with the Take new reference when saving option.
Settings
| Area | The zone where objects must not be left. |
|---|---|
| Reference image | The area when empty; captured automatically when the scenario is saved. |
| Changed area | The share of the zone that must change to count as a change; a smaller value is more sensitive. |
| Dwell | How long the object must stay in place before an event is created. |
| Repeat interval | The interval for re-notification when the object is not removed. |
What it produces
- Abandoned object event (analytics.object.abandoned): change ratio, duration and zone name.
- Event image with the zone marked.
- Time elapsed since the change began.
- By jumping from the event list to the recording, the person who left the object can be traced back.
What you can do with the event
- A critical pop-up window and audible alert for terminal security.
- Sending the event image to the patrol team via WhatsApp.
- A “Please keep your belongings with you” announcement over the speaker.
- Forwarding the event via MQTT to the security management system.
Where it is used
Airports
Unattended luggage in terminal waiting areas is reported to the security team.
Public sector
Packages left at government building entrances are logged instantly.
Shopping malls
Boxes left in front of emergency exit doors are reported to the operations team.
Logistics
Pallets left in the shipping aisle are spotted before they block the way.
Camera placement
- Monitor the area on a stable, flat floor from an angle looking down at a slant.
- Keep furniture and signs that are frequently moved out of the area.
- In glass-fronted areas where light changes a lot during the day, refresh the reference to match lighting conditions.
- Keep the zone separate from places where people regularly wait and stand.
