Absence from post
Reports when a post stays unattended for the set time; also records the worker’s return.

Absence from post analytics continuously monitors whether at least one person is present at a post. If the workstation stays empty for the time you set, ProVife creates an event. When the worker returns, a second event is produced that states how long the post was empty, in minutes and seconds. This way, not only the absence but also its duration is on record. It is suited to posts that must be staffed at all times, such as security booths, control rooms, checkouts, reception desks and critical machine stations. Analytics hours are set to match working hours.
How it works
Draw the post as an area covering where the worker sits or stands.
Enter the vacancy time in seconds; the default is five minutes.
Set analytics hours to match shifts and working hours.
ProVife stores the last moment a person was seen in the area and creates a vacancy event when the time is up.
When the worker returns, a return event is recorded along with how long the post was empty.
Settings
| Vacancy time | How long the post must stay unattended to trigger an event. |
|---|---|
| Area | The post where the worker must be present. |
| Analytics hours | The working and shift hours during which the rule runs. |
| Confidence threshold | The minimum confidence required to detect the worker at the post. |
| Severity | A high level can be selected for critical posts. |
What it produces
- Workstation check event (analytics.workplace.absent): how long the post was empty.
- Return event: the moment the worker returned and the total vacancy time.
- Event image with the post marked.
- Live number of people at the post on the smart panel.
What you can do with the event
- A WhatsApp notification and pop-up window for the shift supervisor.
- An audible alert for an unattended post in the control room.
- Documenting vacancy and return events in a PDF report.
- Forwarding the event via MQTT to shift management software.
Where it is used
Security services
Booth and gate guards leaving their post and returning are logged.
Energy
An empty operator desk in the control room is reported instantly.
Retail
Checkouts and information desks left empty for a long time are reported to the store manager.
Manufacturing
Operator absence at machine stations that require constant supervision is reported with its duration.
Camera placement
- Position the camera to see the post from the front or above, without blocking where the worker sits.
- Draw the area just wide enough to cover the spot where the worker must be.
- Choose an angle where people walking down the corridor do not enter the area.
- Check the angle with Try to keep monitor and glass reflections from looking like people.
