Fall

Fall detection notices when people in the area fall to the ground or are lying on the floor, and creates an event when this persists for the dwell time. A detection is evaluated only when it matches a person seen at that moment; a bag, blanket or shadow on the floor does not produce an event. You can choose between two fall models by comparing them with Try to see which gives the best results on your camera. It is a fast-response tool for senior care homes, hospital corridors, outside hotel bathrooms, warehouse interiors and technical areas where people work alone. The event is reported along with how long the person has been on the floor.

How it works

  1. Draw the area to monitor; it can be a corridor, a room or a work area.

  2. Select the fall model and compare with Try on your own camera.

  3. Enter the dwell time; if the person stays on the floor for this period, an event is created.

  4. Use the consecutive confirmation count to set how many times in a row the detection must be seen.

  5. ProVife accepts a detection only when it matches a person seen at that moment.

Settings

Fall modelDefault model or alternative model; choose the one that gives fewer false alarms on your camera.
DwellHow long the person must stay on the floor before an event is created.
Consecutive confirmationThe number of evaluations in a row in which the detection must be seen.
Confidence thresholdThe minimum confidence required for an event.
AreaThe zone where falls are monitored.

What it produces

  • Fall event: confidence value, time on the floor and zone name.
  • Event image with the person on the floor marked by a red box.
  • The event is listed in AI Playback under a fall heading.
  • By jumping from the event list to the recording, the moment of the fall can be viewed.

What you can do with the event

  • A critical pop-up window and audible alert at the nurses’ station.
  • A WhatsApp message with an image and the room name to care staff.
  • Turning on the corridor lights via a smart relay.
  • Forwarding the event via MQTT to the nurse call system.

Where it is used

Senior care

A resident who falls in a corridor or common area at night is reported to care staff immediately.

Hospitals

For a person who falls in a patient corridor, the nearest nurses’ station is alerted.

Warehousing

A worker who falls between racks while working alone is reported to the shift supervisor.

Hotels

A guest who falls around the pool or in the spa is reported to the front desk.

Camera placement

  • Place the camera in a corner that sees the full length of the room or corridor, so it captures the person’s whole body.
  • Exclude areas where lying down is normal, such as beds and sofas, from the analytics.
  • For night use, make sure infrared illumination lights the floor evenly.
  • Choose an angle where furniture does not block the floor.
